Tendonitis shows itself by swelling and inflammation of the tendons.

Inflammation of the tendon sheath tendons (the tunnel through which the tendon run) can cause pain and swelling along the side of the wrist towards the thumb.

This is especially noticeable when clenching a fist or grabbing something or when turning the wrist. In musicians, the tendons of the hands can be particularly overloaded and undergo wear and tear. Prolotherapy can be of great help while the use of the steroid could be deleterious.
